Six Scents Series Three – Innocence To Experience

posted by MG Team   /   on February 21, 2011 Inhabit - The Other Store

Our sense of smell is arguably the most acute and highly developed of our fives senses. It has the ability to evoke strong emotions and is linked intimately to our memories and experiences. Understanding this latent power of scent, Six Scents Parfums has dedicated its third annual series of luxury colognes and perfumes to the exploration of the nature of childhood memories and the influence of adolescence on identity. By bringing together six international designers with six celebrated perfumers, the perfume house has created six fragrances that are essentially distilled from six distinctive stories of youth. The questions to ask will be when is innocence lost and when does reality kick in?

After two successful collections, this latest selection of fragrances is an intense foray into the hazy Freudian world of childhood, where each designer looks to his or her inner child to recreate the progression from innocence to experience. Themes as varied as the heady 1970s days in France to meditation on life and death, a reflection of the diverse backgrounds of the participating designers, have gone into the making of these fragrances. The result is a swirling riot of olfactory splendor that pays homage to both the light fleeting joys and darker struggles of being a kid.

This time around, the list of participating designers and perfumers reads like a who’s who of the fashion and perfumery worlds. Highlights include haute couturier Alexis Mabille who collaborated with the only Latin American fine fragrance nose in the world, Rodrigo Flores-Roux. Collectors will also be thrilled with the stylish, beautifully illustrated (by artist Robert Knoke) packaging, which is the handiwork of Australian design firm 3 Deep Design.

The goal of the Six Scents Series is to create awareness and funding for a deserving charity. For Six Scents Series Three, a portion of the proceeds will go to War Child International in support of unfortunate children without the privileges of a proper childhood. Recapture the feelings of childhood and help a suffering child at the same time – why not?

The Six Scents Series Three collection of fine fragrances retails at Inhabit, #02-16, Mandarin Gallery at SGD180 each
