No event unites humanity like a catastrophic natural disaster does. The sheer destructive force of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake not only shook Japan to the core but has also awaken in us, the more fortunate ones, a deep sense of compassion and an urgent desire to help in whatever ways we can. In this spirit of giving, Mandarin Gallery has installed a container-like donation box at the outdoor area of the mall, named The Art of Giving.

As part of the conscious effort to extend aid to the victims of the earthquake and the tsunami, Mandarin Gallery has teamed up with Because We Are One, a national celebrity fundraising photo campaign headed by photographer Kevin Ou to drive donations for relief and disaster efforts in Japan. Like-minded local stars, including Fiona Xie, Denise Keller, Eunice Olsen, Edmund Chen, Li Nanxing and Taufik Batisah, have stepped forward to do their part to raise awareness and provide support for this admirable cause.

From 15 April to 2 May 2011, Mandarin Gallery will be accepting donations, in cash and cheques, at its Level 2 Concierge. Cheque donations should be addressed to Singapore Red Cross Society (to state For Japan Disaster 2011, name/organisation name and contact details on the back of the cheque).

The public may pen their well wishes on special heart-shaped stickers provided at the Concierge and everyone who has made a donation will receive a lovingly hand-made origami crane created by the Mandarin Gallery team.

Spring just went into over-drive with the awesome contests and promotions at Mandarin Gallery’s Fashion Rocks extravaganza. A trip to MG has become a lot more fun with interactive activities that will have you dashing from one store to the next on the most exciting retail treasure hunt of the season. With up to 30% off on fashion and food, this is one shopping event that is not to be missed!

And that is not all. You can now stand a chance to win fabulous outfits and products without even having to make any purchases! Here is how you can bring home some fantastic fashion goodies.

Wear Am I?
Each Friday (from 25 March to 24 April), 4 unlabelled outfits will be displayed at the Mandarin Gallery’s Fashion Windows. Simply find out from which store each of the outfits are and enter your answers at the Concierge (Level 2). Each shopper is only entitled to a single participation per week but you can double your chances of winning by spending a minimum of $50 (up to 2 combined same-day receipts) at any MG store.

Pic Me
Every Monday (from 25 March to 8 May), a fashion product will be featured at the Mandarin Gallery’s Concierge and Facebook page. Spot the featured product in a particular MG store and snap a picture of it. Then upload the snapshot to your personal Facebook account and tag Mandarin Gallery to the picture. The first five persons to tag the correct product will win the featured product!
