Street Style – Black Or White
Having overdosed on all things glittery and gold over Christmas, it is time to tone down on the excesses of the festive period and stock up on evergreen items in classic black and white that will serve you well for many seasons to come. Y-3 – Style Meets Comfort
The blurring of boundaries between sports and fashion is not new to Y-3; in fact, it is their core business. For Spring/Summer 2011, fans of the cult street wear brand will be elated with the selection of footwear, both for men and women. In their continual quest to create products of comfort, breathability and durability, the latest range of hybrid sneaker heels, modern brogues and conceptual travel shoes will have you asking for more.
Bringing fashion up a few notches, this season’s fierce heels and wedges have been technologically enhanced without having to compromising on style. In order to ensure that the shoes are comfortable and wearable from day to night, Y-3 has made use of the adiPRENE technology and Torsion system. adiPRENE technology has a shock absorbent quality that optimises comfort and support at all times while the Torsion system balances pressure on both feet to allow for added stability.
Technology and aesthetics do not always mix, but in this case, it most certainly did. The technological enhancements were blended with designs that are at the very cutting edge of fashion. Sporting a sculptural heel, an attractive gold detailing and athletic laces, the Speed Lace High Heels (SGD679) are decidedly high fashion with a heavy dose of the edgy. The Torsion Wedge (shown above, SGD669) is chunkier, but no less sexy with its cut-out details, high top style and leather finish.
For the boys, the highlight product of the collection will have to be the KUBO Hi (SGD539) & Lo (SGD589). The ultimate lightweight and breathable shoes, these are the perfect travel shoes as they collapse to a small packable size but stretch comfortably to the size of your feet when unpacked.
The collection will also introduce the brand new range of formal shoes (SGD599 to SGD649) that integrates the benefits of Adidas technology into dressier designs.

Y-3 – Dark Love
Yohji Yamamoto fans, here is something to make your day: the Y-3 Fall 2010 collection has gone live at its flagship store at Mandarin Gallery!
The theme of the collection is love and romance, only not the fluffy, sweet, rose-tinted kind. The clothes have been influenced by recent developments in Yohji world, which has darkened considerably due to shrinking business and store closures. However, fret not. A melancholic take on love has actually taken off quite well, allowing the deconstructionist master to express himself better with his iconic asymmetry, over the top proportions and fabric manipulation.
